Professor Fritszch is a winner of the Dirac Medal, one of the creators of our theory of the strong force (QCD), and a pioneer of Grand Unification, the attempt to unify all the forces of Nature into one single theory. Professor Fritzsch is also the author of Escape from Leipzig, which describes his dramatic escape from East Germany, at the time of the Berlin Wall, by crossing the Black Sea in a folding canoe.
